Enjoy the Gold Coast Eisteddfod from August 8 until September 16, 2014. The Gold Coast Eisteddfod began in 1982 and now features over 60,000 participants, including children & young adults with special needs, showcasing their skills in bands, orchestras, instrumental groups, string / brass / wind instruments, pianoforte, choral, vocal, speech & drama, speech choirs and dance.
Competitors over the years seek to improve their skills, confidence and presentation with each performance.
With performances at Robina, Albert Waterways and The Gold Coast Arts Centre, Burleigh Heads is the perfect place for your family to stay and enjoy your child's performance.
The Gold Coast Eisteddfold is now the largest competition of its kind in the country staged in August and September each year.
Entries are received from the south east Queensland region and indeed from all States of Australia. Apart from individual entrants, around 140 Primary and Secondary Schools and more than 70 Dance Studios participate in sections which include Solo & Group Dance, Piano, Strings & Wind, Instrumental Groups, Bands, Orchestras, Vocal, Choral and Special Needs. In 2013, over 70,000 competitors took to the stage in 529 sections over 7 weeks.
The City of Gold Coast is major sponsor and without this outstanding support, it would not be possible to stage this major cultural activity. Associate sponsors are Bendigo Bank, Sea FM and Southern Cross Ten.
